Soup Kitchen

A grateful recipient of food from the soup kitchen

Brackenhurst Methodist Church organises and supports a soup kitchen which feeds people looking for work in Brackenhurst every day.

Opportunities for Service

We are very blessed at Brackenhurst Methodist with a very high level of lay involvement. Numerous ministries exist where a person can get involved, and our people do!. These opportunities for service include the different ministries and areas of service listed on this web site and:

pastoral care givers, hospital visitors, counsellors, prayer chain warriors, door, welcoming, communion and vestry stewards, digital display operators, sound engineers, bible study leaders, catering and tea serving, coffee shop catering, banner creating, flower arranging, money counting, youth ministry leaders, garden and building maintenance, library and local preacher's.

If you feel called to exercise our gifts in a particular area of ministry, or perhaps in an area that hasn't been listed, please contact the church office at 011 900 1503 and speak to one of the pastoral staff.

Basket of Plenty

We invite members of our congregation to buy one or two items extra when they do their grocery shopping, and to bring those items to church to share with those who do not have.

Together with donations of clothing we distribute to those who are in need.

Jubilee Ministries

jubilee500.jpg

Jubilee is a ministry that aims simply to meet people's needs and share the love of Jesus in a hands-on way. Jubilee operates at various levels, from serving food to marginalised people in our church to mission trips to the ends of the earth. We serve by feeding, building, befriending, collecting and distributing, planting and any other ideas God lays on our hearts. To find out where you can help please contact Nicki on 072 224 3988 or Noleen on 073 147 6122.

Visit us on facebook.

Harvest Ministry is a means to fellowship with other Christians in our church through meals served at the 14h00 Sunday service.

Koinonia Ministry comes from the Greek word meaning fellowship. Through this aspect of Jubilee we aim to grow in fellowship with other churches in our Circuit and to offer assistance and support to the less privileged within those communities.

Samaritan Ministry is a ministry through which we visit with the less privileged and marginalised people in our community (on the streets) to show God's love for all his children.

Over border Mission enables us to visit with missionaries in neighbouring provinces and countries and offer them our support.

Year of your Life

Young people who are considering a calling to ministry are invited to spend a gap year here at church where they will receive training in their area of interest and be paid a small amount of pocket money.

MISSION & SERVICE

Mission-logo.gif

We believe that Christ calls us to become aware of the needs of others and to give ourselves joyfully in Mission and Service. We cannot be Christians without being missionaries!

We encourage the members of our congregation to become involved in reaching out to others, whether through hands-on ministry or the support of mission projects.
